Introducing AnyVault (Beta)
Many existing traditional enterprise backup software can easily cost US$ 1,000 for a single server – and this may not have included expensive and necessary professional service related. Those traditional on-premise software solutions are powerful, and also usually complicated and expensive, and not easily accessible nor affordable by many small to mid-sized businesses.
The problems for those traditional on-premise software offerings have been more and more obvious especially when the cloud-computing campaign moves faster and more forcefully. A good example of cloud-computing, or more precisely, cloud-backup, is Dropbox. Dropbox makes it very easy to "drop" some files in a special foder generated by the service and keep it synced among several computers and also share with anyone. It's a totally cloud-based service and with a good level of ease of use and a very low cost level. Seems a good alternate solution for enterprise customers? The answer might be no for many businesses.
How do you drop a Exchange Server database into Dropbox folder to backup? And what about SQL Server, Oracle? And what about OS backup and restore? Don't have those databases or you don't need to backup OS? Then, how about backup 1 TB of data to Dropbox? …. The question list can go very very long if you're familiar with most of the key benefits of traditional backup solutions.
So, the enterprise users need something that has a good balance. And this is what we're working hard on at the AnyVault team.
AnyVault is designed to be a service that combines most key benefits of both on-premise solutions and cloud-based solutions. Have a quick look at the following embedded slideshow to have a quick glance. More news are coming in.
